Watching launches from Sriharikota, India

India · Public viewing: Limited · 1 spot, last verified 2026-10-02.

Sriharikota is India's launch range, on a barrier island on the Bay of Bengal north of Chennai. ISRO's Launch View Gallery lets the public watch PSLV, GSLV and LVM3 launches from a few kilometres away, with registration. The gallery can be popular for big launches and registration closes quickly.

Public viewing at Sriharikota, India

Public viewing: Limited Viewing needs registration, a ticket, an organised tour, or is limited to a few specific spots.

ISRO runs a free Launch View Gallery at Sriharikota with a clear view of both pads, but entry needs online registration for each launch, with a government ID, and places are limited.

Official and primary sources for this label

If you cannot be there: ISRO streams launches on its website and YouTube channel. The launch page lists the webcast when Launch Library 2 has the link.

Stay out of restricted zones. Launch sites, safety zones and military areas are closed on purpose; entering them, or photographing them where that is banned, can bring fines, detention or worse under local law. Only use viewing places that the site operator, the local authority or an accredited tour operator names, and follow staff and police instructions.

Upcoming launches and crowd estimates

No launches with a firm date from this area in the current data.

Launches here without a firm date

These dates are placeholders from Launch Library 2 until a real date is announced.

Crowd estimates are computed from launch type, local time and weekday; they are a guide, not a measurement. How we estimate it.

Map

The map is optional. Loading it contacts OpenStreetMap's tile servers, which sees your IP address; nothing loads until you press the button. Every spot is also listed below the map.

Road closures, official information and advisories

T-ZERO does not collect or republish closure data. Use the official or local sources below, and check them again on launch day.

Registration windows and launch dates are posted on the SHAR registration page.

Travel advisories and local rules

Visitors from outside India need an Indian visa as usual; the registration form asks for an Indian government ID, so check how a foreign passport is handled before you plan a trip.

Entry rules, permits and security conditions differ by country and change. Read your own government's current travel advice before you plan a trip around a launch.

Getting there

Chennai is the usual gateway; Sriharikota is on the coast to its north. After registering, follow the instructions on the confirmation for the time and place to report; the registration page will say if transport or ID checks apply.

Safety

Only enter the range through the gallery gate with a valid registration. The surrounding range is a restricted ISRO area. Coastal Andhra Pradesh can be very hot and humid and cyclone season can delay launches.

What to bring

Government photo ID, a printout or screenshot of your registration, water, sun protection and patience for security checks.
