Watching launches from Vostochny, Russia
Russia · Public viewing: Limited · No public viewing spots. Last verified 2026-10-02.
Vostochny is Russia's newest civil cosmodrome, in the Amur region of the Far East, built next to the space town of Tsiolkovsky. The launch zone is closed, but unlike Plesetsk it has an organised tourism programme: accredited operators arrange passes, a visit to the cosmodrome and a place to watch the launch.
Public viewing at Vostochny, Russia
Public viewing: Limited Viewing needs registration, a ticket, an organised tour, or is limited to a few specific spots.
Tourists can watch launches only through accredited tour operators, from an observation point a few kilometres from the pad. Applications and passes are required in advance, and spontaneous visits are not allowed.
- One operator's 2026 page says the observation point for a launch is more than 3 km from the pad, and that applications need passport details and work or study information 45 days before the date (75 days for foreigners).
- The same operator quoted about 32,000 rubles per adult (not resident in the Far East) for launch viewing for a Soyuz launch on 19 November 2026, with the application deadline on 9 October 2026. Prices and dates may change.
- Rocket roll-out and verticalisation visits (3 to 4 days earlier) are sold separately.
- Reporting from 2016 described free roadside viewing platforms along the Amur highway, 21 to 49 km from the pad. We could not confirm they still exist or are used for tourists today.
Official and primary sources for this label
If you cannot be there: Roscosmos streams Soyuz launches on its own channels. The launch page lists the webcast when Launch Library 2 has the link.
Stay out of restricted zones. Launch sites, safety zones and military areas are closed on purpose; entering them, or photographing them where that is banned, can bring fines, detention or worse under local law. Only use viewing places that the site operator, the local authority or an accredited tour operator names, and follow staff and police instructions.
Upcoming launches and crowd estimates
No launches with a firm date from this area in the current data.
Crowd estimates are computed from launch type, local time and weekday; they are a guide, not a measurement. How we estimate it.
Map
The map is optional. Loading it contacts OpenStreetMap's tile servers, which sees your IP address; nothing loads until you press the button. Every spot is also listed below the map.

Viewing spots
No fixed public viewing spots are published for this site; access is arranged case by case (see above). Coordinate from Wikipedia (Vostochny Cosmodrome); approximate. The Angara pad (Amur) is not in our data.
Road closures, official information and advisories
T-ZERO does not collect or republish closure data. Use the official or local sources below, and check them again on launch day.
Closure information comes from the tour operator and Roscosmos; T-ZERO found no public closure feed. A 2026 news summary pointed to the state coordinator TsENKI and a regional tourism site for official routes; we did not open those pages.
Travel advisories and local rules
Many governments advise against travel to Russia, and foreign visitors face a longer pass process. Read your own government's current advice.
Entry rules, permits and security conditions differ by country and change. Read your own government's current travel advice before you plan a trip around a launch.
Safety
Do not travel to the cosmodrome without a pass arranged by an accredited operator. Do not stop on the access roads or approach the zone. Follow the escort's instructions and the photography rules.
